Hair
Loss!
Causes of Hair Loss
If you are young, you may have that occasional bad hair day but
you can never understand the despair of hair loss. If you
are of that age between 30-40 where hair starts to fall off,
then that desperate search of a hair loss solution will begin
in earnest.
Industry experts says that millions of
dollars are spent on hair loss solutions and treatment. Before
we begin to look into these treatments and solutions, we first
need to understand the causes of hair loss.
The causes of hair
loss are few and many all at the same time, but you
must
first
understand
how hair
loss
is
possible.
Many
television and radio commercials will advertise causes
of hair loss being poor care taken of the hair or bad hair
care
products
being used. However, the causes of hair loss on a large
scale are easy to find and understand.
Long Illness- One of the more common causes
of hair loss is a long bout with a serious illness or a very
stressful
period of
family strife. Stress can cause many problems with your
body with one being the excessive loss of hair. Hormonal
Imbalance- Another cause of hair
loss can be the hormonal imbalance brought on by something
like a thyroid
disease. Correcting
a hormonal imbalance like the excess of androgens or estrogens
could cause hair loss.
Pregnancy- Many women begin to lose hair
a few months after pregnancy due to the loss of balance in
their hormones. Another
cause of
hair loss, this is usually cured on its own several months
after the hormones return to normal.
Infections- Certain types of fungal infections
or degenerative diseases can cause hair loss. To overcome the
fungal infections
that cause hair loss the patient needs to purchase an anti-fungal
shampoo or lotion.
Genetic- The biggest cause of hair loss
is the genes being passed on from generation to generation.
Though there
are a number of
wives tales, from the mother’s father and that
it skips a generation, they are most commonly untrue.
The only known genetic
cause of hair loss has nothing to do with what side of
family or generation you are a part of, it is simply
the luck of the
draw.
There are a number of causes for hair
loss, but the majority are undeniably untrue. Doctors, scientists,
and any
number of normal Joe’s have been attempting to
understand baldness for hundreds of years, understand
that when the true cause of
hair loss is found you will hear about it!
Hair Loss Solution
There is such a large choice of hair loss treatment and solution available
commercially that it can drive a buyer crazy! There are a tremendous amount
of options available and a new hair
loss
solution
seems
to
hit the market
almost every day. However, no hair loss solution has proven to be successful
every time and only one formula is approved by the FDA. Check out the most
common solutions and see which is right for you.
Shampoos and Pills- Shampoos and conditioners
will offer a slight hair loss solution, but don’t bank
on it unless you are using it in conjunction with another product.
The same generally goes for hair loss solution pills
that are on the market to try to activate the right follicles in the head
to stimulate hair growth, try them in conjunction with another
hair loss solution
for any benefit.
Hair Loss Treatments- Hair loss solutions
like Rogaine and Propecia are treatments that have been proven
over time
to stimulate hair growth and provide a solution
to men.
Rogaine (minoxidil) is actually the only
hair loss solution on the market to be approved by the FDA
for use and advertisement.
Rogaine and Propecia
are the two most widely used hair loss solutions on the market today. Hair Restoration Surgery- Surgical hair
restorations like the Bosley hair restoration are proven hair
loss solutions
that are available to anyone
with an open pocketbook.
The surgery can cost anywhere from a few thousand dollars up to $15,000,
a bit steep for most consumers. Hair loss solution seekers usually find
this to be a reasonable solution, but it will cost you.
The bottom line with hair loss solutions
is that there is no guaranteed solution to the problem. You
can find some
that are better than others
and some will
work for one guy and not the next, but none are guaranteed successful
every time. Don’t stop at one hair loss solution if it doesn’t
work for you, continue to try other products and if all else fails,
consider hair restoration
surgery.
Hair Loss Treatment
One of most common hair loss solutions is the direct treatment of the hair.
This is also by far the most common method recommended by professional
doctors and health specialists. For those out there that are considering
the benefits of hair loss treatment, the
following
three
procedures are the most commonly used and successful.
Rogaine (Minoxidil)- This
is the only hair loss treatment that it expressly endorsed
by the FDA for use and advertisement
in the United States. The FDA
has endorsed the use of Rogaine even though nobody truly does know how this
hair loss treatment works.
Rogaine is a clear substance
that is applied to the scalp twice a day and can be used with gel
or spray as long as the Rogaine dries first. Retin-A
(Tretinoin)- The
use of Retin-A is not a hair loss treatment that should be
used alone without the help
of another drug. In addition to being a hair
loss treatment, Retin-A is used to treat acne and is in fact one of the leaders
in the market for treating acne skin conditions. Many doctors will recommend
the use of Retin-A with Rogaine, which adds another element to the hair loss
treatment cycle.
Propecia (Finasteride)- The
hair loss treatment drug Propecia is perhaps only second to
Rogaine in its clinical studies
and popular growth. Most people
have
heard or seen Propecia ads about the benefits of the drug, but it is still
not endorsed by the FDA as a safe and strong product for hair loss treatment.
This hair loss treatment works like most others, but should still be used
with a little bit more caution than Rogaine.
Hair loss treatment is like
just about every other treatment or system for enhancing your
appearance in that it has
its positive and negative
side effects.
The consumer should consider why hair recovery is important to them and
weigh it against the possible side effects that could arise. Don’t
pick a hair loss treatment with the idea that a miracle could happen,
understand that anything
is possible with personal appearance products.
